Disclosure & Privacy.

How we make money, how affiliate links work, and what we do - and don't - with your data. The short version: we earn commissions on some tools, we keep tracking to a minimum - analytics only, and only if you accept cookies - and we never sell your data.

We earn on some links

Commission on some tools, at no extra cost to you. Your price is identical either way.

It never moves a score

The rubric is fixed and public. Commissions don't touch verdicts, scores or rankings.

Minimal, consent-based

Aggregate analytics via Google Analytics, set only if you accept the cookie banner. No ad pixels, nothing sold.

We earn commissions on some tools.

StackArbiter participates in affiliate programmes. When you click certain links on this site and then purchase or subscribe to a product, we may receive a commission from the vendor at no additional cost to you. The price you pay is identical whether you arrive through our link or go straight to the vendor.

Affiliate links appear on tool review pages, comparison pages and category pages. They are not used on this page, the methodology page, or the about page.

What you should know

Some links here are affiliate links. Clicking and subscribing earns us a commission - your price is unchanged.

How we mark them

Pages with affiliate relationships carry a disclosure notice in the footer, and outbound vendor links use rel="sponsored". Never hidden.

What happens when you click.

When you click an affiliate link, you go to the vendor's website. The vendor sets a cookie that identifies the referral as coming from us. If you subscribe within the cookie window (typically 30–120 days, depending on the vendor), we receive a commission.

You're never routed through an invisible third-party tracking domain. The link goes directly to the vendor; the referral is tracked by the vendor's own systems or a major affiliate network such as Impact, PartnerStack or ShareASale.

We don't place ad-tech tracking pixels or retargeting tags. The only cookie tied to an affiliate link is the one the vendor's site sets after you click through - and that's outside our control.

What commissions do and don't influence.

This is the part that matters most. Affiliate relationships are disclosed - but disclosure means nothing if commissions are steering the verdicts. Here is exactly where the line sits.

Does influence
Which tools we prioritise reviewing first. Tools with affiliate programmes are more commercially viable for us to cover.
Does influence
Which tools appear in our "Try free" call-to-action buttons. We link to tools we can earn from where one is a genuine fit.
Does not influence
Any individual axis score in the rubric. The formula is fixed and applied identically to every tool.
Does not influence
The verdict or ranking position. A tool with a higher commission ranks lower if it scores lower.
Does not influence
Our cons and negative findings. We publish unflattering findings about tools we earn from.
Does not influence
Corrections. If a tool worsens, the score goes down regardless of the affiliate relationship.

Think a verdict has been swayed by a commercial relationship? Tell us with specifics. We investigate every such report and aim to respond within 24 hours.

We keep your data minimal.

StackArbiter has no user accounts, no login, and no newsletter database. For aggregate traffic statistics we use Google Analytics, which loads only after you accept our cookie banner - decline it and the site works exactly the same. We don't use ad pixels, retargeting, or any technology that builds a profile of you, and we never sell your data.

The other time we receive data is the contact form below: when you send a message, we get the name, email and text you submit, and we use them only to reply. We don't add you to any list or share them.

What we collect

Aggregate, anonymised analytics (page views, rough region, device) via Google Analytics - only with your consent. Plus whatever you type into the contact form, used only to reply.

Cookies

A cookie-consent banner lets you accept or decline. Analytics cookies are set only if you accept - decline and none are set. Vendor sites may set their own after an affiliate click, outside our control.

Third-party scripts

Google Fonts (typography), Google Analytics (traffic - consent-gated), and Cloudflare Turnstile on the contact form (spam protection). Nothing else.

Server logs

Our host, Cloudflare, may process standard request logs (IP, timestamp) as infrastructure. We can't access or control those.

This site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages, which may process server-level request logs as part of its network - handled under Cloudflare's privacy policy. If our data practices ever change, this page will be updated before any new collection begins.
